Teaching what you know in the form of an online course has become the bread and butter for many online entrepreneurs. You can see the appeal: package all your best stuff into a logical and well-presented lesson plan, record it, and sell it over and over again.

Course creation has the potential to be a fantastic passive income business, just like book sales or software. Build an asset that has low-to-zero incremental costs, and sell as many copies as you can — sometimes for $1000 or more.

In this episode I’m chatting with Bailey Richert and her advice for budding “infopreneurs.” In her words, you don’t need a huge audience to start building a successful business, but you would be wise to follow a few important steps.

First, we’ll walk through her recommendations for validating your course idea, creating the content, pricing the different packages, and making sales.

Bailey has definitely got me thinking about what course I should create — or how I should relaunch my Plan, Launch, and Hustle Challenge from last year.

  1. Hi Nick & Bailey,
I am using Udemy to sell my course videos and using clickbank, click2sell, instamajo, selz, amazon to sell my pdf documents.

Thanks for sharing useful resources, other than udemy. I ll make a try Nick.

  2. Great episode Nick and Bailey.

I just shared with my mastermind Bailey’s explanation of what to charge for and what to give away for free – that’s probably the best explanation I’ve heard on that. ‘Give away your best stuff for free, then charge to help them implement it.’ Great stuff

  3. Hey Nick,
I’m a graphic designer and musician. I’m a big fan of your show, and listen to it often. Thanks for the great show! This podcast with Bailey is awesome! Great insights into starting a course! I’m planning on creating a Guitar Tuition course, but with an over saturated market it’s good to know this stuff! Wow! Definitely gonna look into Click Funnels – great concepts about adding value!
Keep the Side Hustle Show alive!

  4. Hey Nick & Bailey,

I took your advice and made a start! I don’t even have a proper podcast mic, but I just used what I have – my cell phone mic and garageband on my macbook pro. I don’t want to let perfection be the enemy of the good. Nick, you said I should keep you posted – so here’s what I’m working on – check out the link. I’m am to build my audience first and eventually start selling my guitar course online. I had my first Guitar Student just last week and his parents paid me cash for the month up front – that gave me a lot of hope!

  5. Wow!

    Thanks Nick!

I’m bent on taking my side hustle to another level in 2017 and I was searching for resources to help me get started on the right foot and then came across this podcast….and them came across the episode on “The OPA Plan”.

All I can say is… Thank you.
