HeyCash is a money making app that pays users to play online games, take surveys, and test out new services.
According to the HeyCash website, users can earn as much as $50 per day, which equates to up to $1500 a month.
Sounds amazing, right? But how realistic are those earnings?
Can you really earn enough to pay your mortgage just by playing mobile games or sharing your opinions?
To find out, I tested the HeyCash platform for a few days and did some research to find out what others had to say.
In this honest review, I’ll cover:
- how HeyCash works
- ways to earn
- how to maximize your earnings
- a few pros and cons
- some HeyCash alternatives to consider
Let’s get right to it!
HeyCash is a legit money making app that pays users to play online games, take surveys, and test out new services. Top users can earn as much as $50 per day.
- Free to use.
- Easy to make money with short surveys.
- Low $5 payout minimum and lots of withdrawal options.
- Some offers are time-consuming for low rewards.
- Uses in-app points instead of dollars.
- App can be glitchy.
What is HeyCash?
Based in Delware, HeyCash is a relatively new player to the get-paid-to (GPT) app arena, but it’s already gained quite a bit of traction.
In fact, to date, the app boasts over 1.5 million Google Play and App Store downloads.
Users can sign up for free and earn points for:
- completing relevant surveys
- installing and playing online games
- signing up for new apps or services
Points can be redeemed for cash through PayPal, Venmo or bank transfer, or exchanged for hundreds of gift card options.
HeyCash is available in over 40 countries and can be used on any device with Internet access, including smartphones, tablets, and computers.
Is HeyCash Legit?
Yes, HeyCash is a legitimate money making app that is secure to use and provides the opportunity to earn real cash or gift cards.
It also has decent ratings in the app store as well as on Trustpilot:
If you’re still skeptical, I recommend simply giving it a try yourself. It’s free to use, so why not?
How Does HeyCash Work?
As mentioned, HeyCash users can earn points for surveys, gameplay, and offer activities.
Each successfully completed task earns a specified amount of points.
On HeyCash, each point is worth $0.001, so 1,000 points equal $1.
Points are redeemable for electronic gift cards to hundreds of popular retailers, restaurants, travel providers, and more, like:
- Amazon
- Apple
- Walmart
- Spotify
- Chipotle
- Starbucks
- Airbnb
- Visa
Prefer cash? Transfers are available via PayPal, Venmo, or as direct deposit right into your bank account.
How to Use HeyCash
Once you’ve signed up for your free HeyCash account and earned your welcome bonus (1,000 points at the time of publishing), there are several ways to start growing your points balance.
Games
HeyCash rewards you for downloading, installing, and playing mobile games. Each game has a list of milestones that must be completed within a designated amount of time.
For instance, I installed the Word Spells game, which has seven milestones, each of which has its own points value:
While the small number of milestones and the potential to earn just over $27 may seem pretty decent at first glance, after playing the game for over an hour, all I earned was a measly $1.39.
Womp, womp.
The good news is, some of the games offer higher points and even limited-time bonuses, so feel free to look through them all and see if there are any of interest that may be more lucrative.
Surveys
I personally feel that this is HeyCash’s best feature.
The survey interface is simple and straightforward, and there are always lots of available surveys to choose from.
Surveys are conveniently categorized by:
- Best Match
- Shortest
- Most Points
Each survey in the dashboard shows at a glance approximately how long it will take, how many points it’s worth, and the rating from other users.
I really like how HeyCash lets users rate their survey experience. This can help to optimize your time.
For instance, this survey may seem great because it’s worth a lot of points, but it only has two and a half stars, so it’s probably not worth it:
As far as quality and relevance, I had much better luck with the surveys on HeyCash than I have on other apps I recently reviewed, like Cointiply and MakeMoneyOnline.
Of the five I attempted, I qualified for three and earned a few dollars for just a few minutes of my time. For the ones I didn’t qualify for, I was still given a few pity points, so all was not lost.
One survey I completed took only about 8 minutes and consisted of me watching a Wayfair ad and sharing my feedback. For that, I was awarded over 2,000 points.
Earnings per survey range from $0.03 to $3+ and take anywhere from 1 to 35+ minutes to complete. (Obviously, the longer the survey, the higher the payout, assuming you qualify.)
This is in line with other big-name survey platforms, like Survey Junkie.
Offers
In addition to games, there are also offers to try various apps or services, such as:
- investment platforms
- banking tools
- cash back apps
As with most of these types of offers, many require a small investment, like opening an account and making a deposit.
When I compared the offers on HeyCash to other money making apps, some of the payouts were better, while others were not.
For example, Scrambly pays almost twice as much for installing Acorns, but only about half what HeyCash pays for installing Upside.
It’s sort of a pain, but if you really want to maximize your earnings and you’re using multiple GPT apps, then it’s probably worth doing a comparison before moving forward with any offers.
Like games, offers typically have rules and deadlines, so be sure to read the fine print.
Other Ways to Earn with HeyCash
Leveling Up
As you complete tasks and earn points, you’ll also move up to higher levels on the HeyCash platform.
Each time you level up, you’ll be credited some bonus points.
For example, I reached level 12 and earned an instant 200-point bonus. ($0.20, woohoo!)
Daily Streak
HeyCash offers incentives to log in on a daily basis. Simply access the app or website, earn at least 1,000 points, and you’ll keep your streak alive.
Reach a 7-day streak and you’ll be able to draw a prize of up to 10,000 points.
According to the website, every draw wins so you’re guaranteed some sort of prize just for logging in for seven days in a row.
You can track your status both for the daily streak as well as which level you’re currently on and how far you have to go to reach the next one right at the top of the HeyCash app’s dashboard:
Referrals
When someone signs up for HeyCash using your referral link, you’ll earn a 10% commission on all survey points they earn.
Plus, new users that redeem your bonus code within 24 hours after signing up receive a 10% bonus of their own for 24 hours.
Leaderboard
Once you reach 5,000 points, you can start competing in the Leaderboard.
As you continue to use the app, complete more tasks, and earn more points, you’ll move up the ranks among other users. Reach the top 250, and you’ll receive free bonus points.
Currently, the daily Leaderboard prize pool is 128,320 Points ($128.32). Points are divvied up among the top players based on earnings.
Redeeming HeyCash Points
Despite the fact that the HeyCash FAQs state that “there is no minimum amount required to withdraw,” the actual redemption area of the site says you need at least 5,000 points to redeem.
Other users around the web have also mentioned the 5k minimum.
Once you’ve reached that threshold and you’re ready to redeem, click on the green “Claim Rewards” button:
From there, you can choose to withdraw your earnings in cash or select from over 240 gift card options.
Note: some withdrawal methods have their own minimum threshold, so watch out for that.
How Much Can You Earn on HeyCash?
The amount you can realistically earn from using HeyCash will depend on a number of factors, including:
- how many offers you claim
- how often you log in and complete tasks
- how many surveys you qualify for and complete
- which games you play and how many milestones you complete
- how many new users you refer
As mentioned at the beginning of this review, HeyCash claims that some users are making as much as $1,200-$1,500 a month.
In my experience and based on the many real-life HeyCash reviews I’ve read through, this is not impossible, but it’s probably a stretch.
Still, even if you’re only able to earn $5-$10 a day in your spare time, that still adds up to a decent chunk of change.
Tips to Maximize Your HeyCash Earnings
Choose Your Games Wisely
Pick games that you’re good at.
For instance, word games are my jam, so I can plow through levels pretty quickly. Remember, most games give you a limited amount of time to complete milestones, so the faster you work, the more you’ll earn.
Multi-Task
If you can handle playing a few different games at the same time, go for it.
I personally like to pick a couple and toggle between the two, so I don’t get bored. You’ll earn points for reaching milestones in each, so you’ll essentially be stacking your earnings.
Don’t Overdo It
While I do recommend playing more than one game at the same time, I’d also caution you not to spread yourself too thin.
Some of the milestones are time-consuming, and you’ve only got so many days to complete as many as possible, so be mindful.
Take Surveys Regularly
Not only will taking more surveys earn you more points, but it’ll also help the app match you with more relevant surveys in the future.
That means less time wasted trying to qualify for surveys and more time spent answering and earning.
Allow Tracking
Be sure to allow tracking in your device settings.
This is extremely important because otherwise, the app won’t be able to verify and confirm that you’ve completed the required steps, and you won’t receive credit for reaching the required milestones.
Play Daily
As mentioned, HeyCash offers the chance to win bonus points just by simply logging in daily and earning at least 1,000 points (trust me – this isn’t very hard to do).
Make sure you’re taking advantage of this opportunity to boost your points balance.
Refer Friends
If you’ve read any of my other app reviews, you know I’m all about passive income, so I’m a big fan of HeyCash’s referral program.
Share your link with friends and on your social media channels. You’ll earn 10% of your referrals’ points every time they take a survey, and that can really add up!
How Does HeyCash Make Money?
Similar to other money making apps, HeyCash likely earns a commission for each offer redeemed.
What I Like and Dislike about HeyCash
Pros
- Free App: HeyCash costs nothing to download and install, and it’s free to use.
- User-Friendly: For the most part, the HeyCash interface is simple to navigate and offers are easy to claim.
- Multiple Ways to Earn: There are several different ways users can earn points with HeyCash, including playing games, completing offers, and participating in surveys.
- Variety of Rewards: You can redeem your rewards for cash money, or you can choose from literally hundreds of gift card options.
- Low Withdrawal Minimum: While 5k points may seem like a lot, I earned over 8k just testing the app out over the course of a couple of days.
- Earn Passively: HeyCash pays you 10% residual commissions on all survey points earned by anyone who signs up through your referral link.
- Excellent Support: Support is available 24/7 and in 20 different languages.
Cons
- Time Commitment: The higher-paying surveys can take a decent amount of time to complete, as can the long list of milestones many of the games require.
- App Can Be Glitchy: When testing HeyCash, I used both the app as well as the website, and I found the app to be a bit glitchy at times. Not a huge deal, but annoying nonetheless.
- Points vs. Dollars: It can be confusing trying to figure out how much each survey or milestone is actually worth.
- Offer Limitations: Some of the offers have stringent requirements that make it difficult, if not impossible, to earn the advertised maximum.
- Cost: Some offers require you to spend or deposit money, which could offset what you’d otherwise earn.
