MakeMoneyOnline is a new platform that pays you to play games, try new apps, take surveys, and complete partner offers.

The platform claims to offer higher earnings than competitors like Freecash, suggesting that users can make $100+ per offer.

But does MakeMoneyOnline really outshine its competitors, or are they all talk?

To find out, I signed up for an account and tested it myself.

In this honest review, I will cover:

  • How MMO works
  • Various ways to earn
  • How much you can realistically expect to make
  • Some pros and cons
  • A few alternatives to consider

MakeMoneyOnline is a new GPT platform with some of the highest offer payouts we've seen.

Pros:
  • Free to use
  • Higher payouts than similar apps
  • Low $5 minimum to cash out
Cons:
  • No mobile app (yet)
  • Offers can be time-consuming
  • Investment may be required to reach highest payout tier

What is MakeMoneyOnline?

Based in Tokyo, MakeMoneyOnline was established in April 2013 by parent company Mint Town, Co., Ltd.

Despite being in business for more than a decade, it appears MakeMoneyOnline is new to users outside of Japan and is now available in the United States as well as 40 additional countries.

I wasn’t able to locate info on how many active users are signed up for MMO, but according to some stats on their website, they’re paying out over $30k a month.

How Does MakeMoneyOnline Work?

Unlike many of the other money making apps we’ve reviewed on this site, MakeMoneyOnline isn’t actually an app—it’s a website that is free to sign up and relatively simple to navigate.

Its mobile-friendly site is available on both iOS and Android devices.

Once signed up, you can choose from 500+ offers that include:

  • playing games
  • downloading apps
  • sharing your opinions through surveys
  • and more

Each offer has its own rules, requirements, and payout amounts, but generally speaking, the goal is to complete various milestones within a specified number of days.

Each milestone is assigned a dollar amount.

Rewards are paid in MG: 10,000 MG = $1.00.

Games

One of the easiest ways to rack up your earnings on MMO is to install and play games.

The website lets you isolate offers by device, and sort in order of highest to lowest rewards (not really sure why anyone would want to target the lower paid offers, but I digress.)

How it works:

  1. Choose a game you’re interested in
  2. Download and install the app through the MakeMoneyOnline website
  3. Meet the specific criteria to earn incentives

As an example, I signed up for a game called MergeBlast, which boasts the potential to earn up to $345.74.

To reach those earnings, you’ll need to complete a bunch of milestones/incentives, which are listed out in detail when you click on the app icon:

Under the list of milestones, you’ll see additional details about the offer. For instance, most offers have a limit of how many days you have to complete the milestones and earn the incentives.

One really cool thing about MakeMoneyOnline is that they offer a direct comparison with how much Freecash pays out for the same offer:

One thing to note with games is that the platform requires you to verify your phone number before installing the app by texting a code to a provided phone number.

I found this a bit odd and cumbersome, and it’s unclear why this is necessary when other money making apps I’ve tested do not add this extra step.

App Installs and Subscriptions

Mixed amongst the games are offers to sign up for various services and install certain apps.

For instance, MakeMoneyOnline pays $8.40 to install and register for the Capital One Shopping app and browser extension. (As an added bonus, you can then use the app or plugin in to save with coupons and other rewards as you shop.)

For comparison, Freecash only pays $5.40 for the same activity.

Keep in mind, too, that some offers do require an investment. For example, if you sign up for a $1 trial of Experian CreditWorks, MMO will pay you $9.40.

Definitely worth it, IMO.

For app installs, signups and subscriptions, you almost always need to be a new user in order to qualify.

According to MakeMoneyOnline’s FAQ section, estimated rewards for this category range from $0.50 to $100+, though I didn’t see any offers even close to that high end.

Surveys

MakeMoneyOnline partners with CPX Research to offer paid online surveys.

The survey dashboard displays available surveys, including how much they pay and approximately how long they will take.

Unfortunately, as I learned in my recent review of Cointiply, I don’t seem to have much luck matching with surveys.

Once again, I tried to take several and each time received a rejection message.

If you have better luck than I do, you could earn an average of $2+ per survey. This is comparable to other paid survey platforms.

For what it’s worth, I qualified for more surveys on HeyCash and Survey Junkie.

Partner Offers

There’s another tab under the Earn section of the MMO platform entitled “Offer Partners.”

This is basically a list of other partners that also offer incentives to perform certain tasks or activities, like playing games or watching ads.

I checked out a few of these so-called “offer walls”, and I have to say this part is a bit convoluted. The offers are similar to most GPT apps, but this is sort of like going down a rabbit hole.

In any case, I installed a game and played it a few times, which earned me a whopping $0.02 in my MMO account, so it wasn’t worth my time. Other offers might pay more, but again, it require digging.

Affiliates

MakeMoneyOnline rewards its affiliates with a 10% commission on the earnings generated by their referrals. As far as I can tell, there is no limit on how many people you can refer, or how much you can earn in commissions.

This graphic was grabbed from the homepage. It says “Limited Time,” but the 10% referral program is also referenced in the existing FAQs, so it seems that it’s ongoing.

Getting Paid

You can withdraw your earnings from MakeMoneyOnline once you’ve reached a balance of at least $5.

You can choose to be paid via PayPal, as a direct deposit into your bank account, or an electronic gift card to a popular retailer, such as:

  • Amazon
  • Starbucks
  • Walmart
  • Google Play
  • Apple
  • Visa

Important Note: Earnings held within your account will expire after 180 days of inactivity, so keep that in mind. All you have to do to prevent this is complete a new offer within that timeframe.

Is MakeMoneyOnline Legit?

As mentioned, I’m a relatively new user, so I don’t have a ton of firsthand experience with the MMO website. That said, so far I haven’t seen any major red flags.

The platform also has a 4.1-star rating on Trustpilot, which is pretty solid:

Based on this, and my own personal usage so far, the platform is legit.

Tips for Earning with MakeMoneyOnline

Here are few more tips for maximizing your earnings with MakeMoneyOnline.

Monetize Your Spare Time

The more active you are with MMO, the more you’ll earn, so whenever you have free time, pull up a game and play a few rounds.

This is especially important for the ones that have milestones. The more frequently you play, the more likely you’ll be to hit your goals.

Kill Two (or Three) Birds with One Stone

You can accelerate your earnings by tackling a few different offers at once.

Just remember, most offers have time limits for how long you have to complete them, so be careful not to overdo it. I find one to three offers at a time to be manageable.

Be Strategic

Not every game or offer will be worth your time. I recommend checking the details and being realistic about the amount of time and effort you will need to put in to maximize your earnings.

Read the Fine Print

Each offer is different, but all have certain conditions and requirements for earning rewards.

Be sure to read through these details before starting a task or claiming an offer to ensure eligibility, otherwise you risk wasting your time.

Disable Ad Blockers

Displaying ads is essential for earning rewards on MakeMoneyOnline. If an ad blocker is enabled, MMO’s content may not function properly, so if you use an ad blocker, make sure it’s disabled before claiming an offer.

Refer Others

You’ll earn a 10% commission for every qualified new MMO user you refer, so take advantage of that.

If you’re an influencer or publish a lot of content online, you can share your affiliate link publicly and hopefully get some bites that way as well.

Compare Offers

You only get one bite from the apple, so before you claim an offer, compare what’s being offered in other money making apps to ensure you’re getting the biggest possible payout.

In this case, most of the offers pay more than Freecash, but check other apps as well.

How Much Can You Earn with MakeMoneyOnline?

The amount you can make with MMO will ultimately depend on:

  • how often you use the platform
  • how many games/tasks/milestones you complete
  • whether you’re successful with the affiliate program

The website says you can earn up to $100 per offer, but in my honest opinion, this is probably a stretch. Still, it’s possible to make some money, which is always a plus!

Like most apps that pay for playing mobile games, unless you plan on playing 24/7, you will probably not meet every single milestone, so your actual earnings may be lower than what’s advertised.

How Does MakeMoneyOnline Earn Revenue?

Like other GPT apps, MakeMoneyOnline earns a commission for every offer redeemed. They share a portion with you and keep some for themselves.

MakeMoneyOnline Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Free to Use: MMO is completely free to use, so it’s definitely worth signing up.
  • User-Friendly: For the most part, MMO was a pretty easy platform to navigate. The only feature I didn’t care for was the partner offers, but that’s personal preference.
  • Variety of Offers: There are several different options for earning cash back, which you can basically stack to maximize your earnings.
  • Higher Incentives: In comparison to Freecash, and even a few other similar apps, MMO does seem to offer bigger payouts.
  • Quick and Easy Payouts: You can withdraw funds as soon as you hit $5, with several options for how to get paid.
  • Referral/Affiliate Program: Opportunity to earn passive income by referring friends and/or becoming an affiliate.

Cons

  • No Mobile App: I much prefer a dedicated app to a website. It’s just much easier than having to pull up the site and log in every time you want to use it.
  • Offer Limitations: Some of the offers have unrealistic requirements that make it difficult, if not impossible, to earn the advertised maximum.
  • Time Consuming: To earn anything worthwhile, you’d need to dedicate a significant amount of time to completing the various tasks and milestones.
  • Cost: Some offers require you to spend or deposit money, which can negate what you earn if you’re not careful.
  • Extra Steps: I didn’t love the SMS verification step required in order to claim an offer. It seemed unnecessary and a little invasive.

Is MakeMoneyOnline Worth It?

For people who have time and enjoy playing online games, MMO can be a great way to earn a little bit of cash just by doing what you’d normally do.
