Is Super.com legit?
Super promises lots of different ways to earn and save — up to $160 per week!
But is Super.com really worth the hype?
Yes and no. The site is legit, but there are some downsides you should know about.
This Super.com review is based on my experience with the app and researching the experiences of other users.
In this post, I’ll go over:
- How Super.com works
- Ways you can earn money
- How much you can realistically earn
- Some pros and cons
- A few Super.com alternatives to consider
Let’s get right to it!
We found this newer cash-back portal overwhelming to use and misleading when it comes to actually cashing out your earnings.
- Wide variety of offers.
- Magic Receipts is a cool feature.
- Good for last-minute hotel deals.
- Confusing interface.
- Can't cash out unless you pay.
- Customer support complaints.
What is Super.com?
Super.com originally launched as Snapcommerce back in 2016. It started as a discount hotel reservation service.
When the company rebranded in 2022, it also expanded into the financial services industry, offering a cash back credit card.
Today, Super.com boasts over 30 million users that have collectively saved over $200 million to date.
(One of Super.com’s most noteworthy investors is Steph Curry, a four-time NBA champion and league MVP.)
How Does Super.com Work?
There’s a lot to unpack about this app, and it’s honestly a bit overwhelming.
First, there are two different membership types:
- Super.com, which is free
- Super+, which is a $15/mo paid subscription
There’s also something called a “Super Card,” which is a secured credit card that offers cash back and can help users build credit.
How to Make Money with Super.com
The free version of Super.com focuses primarily on two areas:
- Saving money on hotel stays
- Earning money by playing games, completing certain tasks, responding to surveys, and uploading receipts
1. Hotel Savings
For hotel bookings, the app says you can save 50% or more on each booking.
But those deep discounts are only available at specific destinations and on specified dates (most of which are very last-minute):
So, unless that matches your exact travel plans, or you have a lot of flexibility and can travel at the drop of a hat, you may not get much of a discount after all.
When I did a random search for a hotel in Orlando, the estimated discount amount wasn’t nearly that high. Still, every little bit counts these days.
I’d recommend comparing the rates on Super.com with what’s available on other travel sites to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
2. Games
Another way to earn money with Super.com is to sign up to play advertised games.
Each game has a detailed list of steps to complete, each of which will earn you a reward.
The total potential earnings for each game vary from $30 to $260+.
To play:
- Click the game app link through the Super.com app
- Install the game on your device
- Complete each step within the specified timeframe
One important thing to note is that you must meet certain requirements to qualify for the promotions.
For instance, with the Solitaire game shown above, you must:
- be a new player
- have a newer phone model
- be using the latest operating system
- deposit your own money into the game
The terms and conditions for each game are listed in the Details section, below the steps.
3. Tasks
The Tasks section offers incentives for completing other activities, such as installing apps or signing up for various accounts or services.
For instance, if you sign up for a new Robinhood investment account, you could earn up to $28.40.
Similar to games, each task has its own list of steps and requirements that must be completed in order to earn the promised cash back.
Here are the instructions to qualify for the Robinhood incentive:
Earnings for tasks are treated the same way as earnings for games.
4. Surveys
You can also earn rewards for completing surveys on Super.
When you activate this feature, the Super.com site will ask you several questions to help match you with surveys that might be a good fit. Users can potentially earn a few dollars per survey.
At press time, there was a limited-time 20% bonus on all completed surveys, so keep an eye out for deals like that!
5. Magic Receipts
One of the newest ways to earn cash back from Super.com is through the Magic Receipt feature.
This is similar to Ibotta, another money-making app.
To start earning:
- Locate the items you plan to buy
- Add them to your list
- Purchase them
- Upload your receipt
You can search by store, category, or product, and each offer has its own terms and conditions that must be met in order for it to qualify for cash back.
These details can be found by clicking on the item itself:
You can earn a minimum of $0.01 for each receipt you upload. Additionally, you accrue points that can be converted into cash or gift cards, but the exact amount varies based on the type of receipts and any available promotions.
6. Online Shopping Rebates
Another way to earn cash back is to shop online through the Super.com website or via the Safari extension on your mobile device.
If you’re familiar with apps and services like Rakuten, this feature is pretty much the same.
You simply choose one of the thousands of participating retailers, link through the app to start your shopping session, and earn cash back when you complete your purchase.
Some of the participating stores include:
- CVS
- Staples
- Macy’s
- Shein
- Kroger
- Ugg
Currently, cash back percentages for online shopping range from 2% to 15%.
Redeeming Your Earnings
Every time you complete a task or activity in Super, your credits get added to your rewards balance.
You can cash in those credits:
- towards a hotel booking
- to purchase an electronic gift card
- to fund your Super Card (more on that below)
This is where things get a little dicey.
From what I can tell, the only way to actually withdraw your earnings, whether through gift cards or via a Super Card, is to sign up for Super+ at $15/mo.
Seems a little bait-and-switchy to me.
There is the option for a free 7-day trial, so technically I could convert what I’ve earned so far into a digital gift card without signing up for a membership. But if I continue to earn, anything beyond those initial 7 days would require me to start paying monthly.
The only other option would be to put your balance toward a hotel booking.
Is Super+ Worth It?
Super+ costs $15 per month, which is unique for an app like this.
In fact, I don’t think any of the other cash back or survey apps we’ve reviewed have ever been so bold as to charge a monthly membership fee.
The primary benefit — outside of the free functions of the app — appears to be access to a $250 cash advance with no interest or credit check.
On top of that, according to Super, paying members can:
- earn over $250/mo from cash back, games, surveys, missions, and more
- save over $150/mo on gas, hotels, prescriptions, flights, tickets, and more
- build credit “without even trying”
Super+ subscribers also receive special members-only offers.
Paying money to save money isn’t completely unheard of. I mean that’s why we pay for a Costco membership, right?
But unless you’re booking a ton of travel or interested in the cash advance / credit-building aspects, I’d definitely skip the Super+ fee.
Super Pay
The Super Card is another feature available to Super+ members.
It’s a secured credit card you can use anywhere Mastercard is accepted. You can fund the card with your Super.com and/or Super+ earnings, as well as your own cash, and then use it to make purchases, like a bank debit card.
You’ll also earn unlimited 1% cash back on all your Super Card purchases.
And lastly, because Super.com reports to all 3 major credit bureaus, signing up for a Super Card can help you build and strengthen your credit.
Is Super.com Legit?
Yes, Super.com is legit.
But because the app tries to do so many things, some features are better than others.
It’s like the menu at The Cheesecake Factory… they can’t possibly be the best at all those recipes!
I found a number of complaints from users about the hotel booking feature. Some even stated that the room they booked through the app did not actually exist. Yikes!
Then, there are others that say they had no issues booking and were able to save a decent amount of money.
My advice for this feature is to do your own research and take precautions. One way you can do this is by using a credit card that offers purchase protection and following up with the hotel immediately after you book to confirm that everything went through.
My Experience with Super.com
As for the cash back rewards features, I can personally attest that this is legit. I tested out one of the tasks, which was to download and play a casino slots app.
The good news? I did earn some of what the app promised.
The bad news is, unless you have absolutely nothing better to do with your time and can play games 24/7, your chances of actually earning the max amount are pretty slim.
Maybe the other games are better, but for the one I tested, I only managed to meet the first three steps. Then they got progressively more challenging and more time consuming, so I ultimately gave up.
I did manage to earn $5.64 in about 5 days by playing a mindless game in my spare time, so I suppose all was not lost.
Based on my shopping and travel habits, the Magic Receipts feature will probably earn me the most cash back.
Overall, Super.com a decent app to keep on your phone for when you’ve got some time to kill, or for when you plan on shopping and can remember to add offers and grab your receipt.
Tips for Making Money with Super.com
Here are few more tips for maximizing your earnings with Super.com:
Check the App Before You Shop
My first piece of advice is to get into the habit of checking the Magic Receipt feature of the Super.com app any time you plan on making a purchase.
See if there are any incentives you can take advantage of.
Before shopping, remember to add the offer(s), check the fine print, and always hold onto your receipt.
Compare and Save
If you plan on shopping online, check to see if the store you’re shopping at is one of the participating brands on Super.com and comparing the offer with that of other cash back apps, like Rakuten and Ibotta.
Whichever has the best deal wins!
Check Back Frequently
Super.com regularly adds new games, tasks, offers, and features.
Check back every so often to see if there are any new ways you can earn cash back and/or save some money.
Stack Your Savings
When making purchases, pay with a credit card that also offers cash back or other incentives.
For instance, one of my credit cards pays me 3% cash back on pharmacy purchases, so if I shop at CVS and use Magic Receipts or the online shopping feature, I can earn cash back from both this app as well as my credit card.
Cha-ching!
Sign Up When You Have the Time
Many of the tasks and games on Super.com require you to complete a certain number of steps within a short amount of time.
Be mindful of this and only attempt to take advantage of an offer when you think you’ll be able to commit the necessary time.
Otherwise, you won’t earn as much.
Consider Super+
The Super+ subscription might be worth the $15 fee if you’re a frequent traveler or could use the cash advance feature.
My suggestion would be to start using the free version of the app, and if you feel like you could potentially become more of a “power user,” then consider upgrading.
At press time, there is a 7-day free trial for Super+, so you can take it for a test drive.
Pay Attention to the Terms
As mentioned above, most offers have certain terms and exclusions.
For instance, with the Magic Receipts feature, you may need to purchase a certain size or quantity of a product in order for it to qualify.
Or there may be a limit to how many you can purchase and/or redeem. Be sure to double check the fine print to make sure you don’t miss out.
How Much Can You Earn with Super.com?
The amount you can make with Super.com will ultimately depend on:
- how often you use the app
- how many games/tasks you complete
- how much you spend at participating retailers
- what types of incentives those retailers are offering
- whether you’re willing to pay for the premium version
The website says you can earn up to $430 a month for completing games and tasks, but that’s probably a stretch for most users.
Still, it’s possible to make some money — for tasks you were going to be doing anyway — which is always a plus.
But will you make more than $15 a month to offset the membership fee that’s required to actually cash out?
Probably not unless you really book a lot of last-minute hotels or take advantage of their other earning options.
How Does Super.com Make Money?
Super.com earns revenue through a combination of things, including:
- Commission on purchases made through their platform
- Fees from partner merchants
- Premium memberships (Super+)
- Fees on transactions through the Super Card
Super.com Pros & Cons
Pros
- Free Version: Super.com has a decent free version that still enables users to earn cash back and save money through various channels.
- Variety of Offers: There are several different options for earning cash back, which users can basically stack to maximize their earnings.
- Decent Incentives: Payouts are pretty significant, if you can meet the stringent criteria. Advertised savings on hotel bookings and other purchases are decent. Magic Receipt payouts are much higher than other apps.
- Additional Savings/Earnings: Users willing to pay a monthly fee can earn and save even more.
- Access to Quick Cash: Premium users with a Super Card can take advantage of cash advances of up to $250 with no credit check or hidden fees.
- Credit Building: Super+ members can use their Super Card to help build or improve their credit rating.
Personally, I think the best feature of this app is the Magic Receipts, which I definitely plan on taking advantage of.
Cons
- Confusing Interface: I found the Super.com app/website a bit overwhelming.
- Payout Limitations: If you want cash back in the form of actual cash, you can only do so with a Super Card. There’s no option to link and deposit to a bank account.
- Time Consuming: To actually earn anything substantial, you have to dedicate a tremendous amount of time to the various games and tasks.
- Cost: Some of the games and tasks require you to spend or deposit money, which can negate whatever you’d otherwise earn if you’re not careful.
- Poor Customer Support: I didn’t experience this personally, but I did see a lot of reviews from users complaining about a lack of adequate customer support.
- Monthly Fee for Premium: $15/mo isn’t a ton of money, but unless you use the app a lot, it may end up costing you more than it’s worth.
Is Super.com Worth It?
For people who have time and enjoy playing online games, Super.com can be a great way to earn some cash just by doing what you’d normally do.
But we found the app confusing and misleading, by not actually letting users cash out unless they pay for a membership.
