Blogging vs. YouTube: Which Platform is Best to Grow an Online Business?

blogging vs youtube

If you’re starting an online business and creating content, you’re almost certainly going to create either written or video content – or both.

The problem is that it can be hard to know which type of content is going to work best for your business, and getting off on the right foot is going to save you a lot of time.

So, to help you figure out which type of content is best for you, I’ve bought back, by popular demand, the Side Hustle Showdown series.

Become a Salesforce Consultant: $225k a Year … Working Part-Time

brad rice

Last year, Brad Rice booked $225,000 worth of Salesforce consulting work. That’s impressive on its own, but what’s crazier is he only worked an average of 18 hours a week.

Brad took his existing skills and experience with a popular software product, and pivoted to become a remote freelance consultant.

This is the “SWAS” strategy: Software with a Service.

Mobile Home Investing: $10k a Month in Positive Cash Flow

Cash-flowing $10k a month from a portfolio of mobile homes.

Sounds like a great side hustle, doesn’t it?

It is.

When most people think of real estate investing, mobile homes probably don’t come to mind. In fact, technically speaking, mobile homes are personal property – not real estate.

Podcast Marketing Brain Dump: 25 Tips from 400 Episodes, 7.5 Years, and 15 Million Downloads

The Side Hustle Show just hit 428 episodes and almost 15 million lifetime downloads. It’s all pretty crazy for what started as a little side project experiment in 2013 with a $50 mic from my living room.

Podcasting is an incredibly powerful medium and it’s honestly been life-changing for me.

I wish I could give you a definitive answer on how to grow a podcast but the truth is I don’t know. I think there’s a combination of factors at play, and I’ll do my best to outline those in this post.

2020 Annual Review and Q4 Progress Report

I don’t think many of us predicted 2020 turning out the way it did, but it wasn’t all bad.

In the spring, I remember wishing for a “fast forward” button, a way to just get beyond the lockdowns, anxiety, and isolation.

But playing ostrich and putting my head in the sand wasn’t really an option — not for my family or my work.

Raising Innovative and Entrepreneurial Kids: The Next Generation of Problem Solvers

How can you instill the skills and values of innovation and entrepreneurship in kids?

And if you can teach it to kids, why can’t you teach it to grownups?

This week I’m joined by Don Wettrick, an award-winning middle school, and high school teacher and the CEO and co-founder of StartEdUp, which has a mission to empower students and teachers to apply innovation and entrepreneurship in the classroom.

Rental Arbitrage: $200k in Profit Without Owning Any Property

rental arbitrage

Rental arbitrage gives you a way to make money with Airbnb — without owning any property.

Traditionally, building a real estate side hustle takes big bucks for down payments, closing costs, and renovation projects.

But enterprising short-term rental “moguls” are questioning if owning the property is even necessary. These rental arbitrage entrepreneurs sign long-term leases, and then turn around and sub-let the property on a short-term basis — profiting on the spread.

Quarterly Progress Report – Q2 2020

little hustler turned 2

Oh 2020 … I’m somewhere between “when will this year be over??” and “how is it July already??”

We’re still in a semi-strict social distancing protocol here in California. We haven’t seen family or most of our close friends in months.

Playgrounds are closed, as is the zoo and the library. Lots of conversations with our 4-year-old start or end with “when the germs go away.”
