“Go big or go home, that’s kinda my whole philosophy with SEO,” Matt said.
And his results speak for themselves.
It’s been more than 200 episodes since we last heard from Matt Giovanisci. Back then, Matt was explaining how he was growing his authority site SwimUniversity.com with epic content and strong SEO.
Since then he’s started 3 more authority sites and has fine-tuned his SEO practices for even bigger and quicker results.
His latest site BrewCabin.com is just a few months old and Matt is already ranking well for high traffic “money” keywords – without building backlinks or promoting this content.
How is he doing this?
It’s not through longtail keywords.
Quite the opposite, Matt goes after those high traffic keywords and outranks his competitors by producing epic content that people want to read.
Tune in to hear Matt explain how he does his keyword research, how he formats his content to ensure strong on-page SEO, and why he’s seeing such rapid growth across all of his sites.
Note: This is “round 2” of SEO for Bloggers. Round 1 was this conversation with Joseph Hogue last year.)

Wow, great interview! I’m working on an Amazon affiliate niche website and this is very motivational, and full of good advice! I’m looking forward to implementing some of his recommendations and tactics, thanks!
Really great advice here! I really resonate with the straight-forward approach Matt talks about, just focusing on writing the best content on the internet and not spending a ton of time promoting and trying to beg for backlinks. I think his prediction on Google eventually moving away from backlinks is right on the money.
Great points Matt! No doubt there is a lot of flat-out garbage and inferior content on the Internet. I commend you for being brave enough to create great content and go after the more competitive keywords. People who are confident enough to do this will dominate the world of SEO.
Now I definitely don’t believe that everyone who produces great content will rank high in Google every time, because I have definitely seen otherwise. But I do agree that their algorithms are getting smarter in sniffing out quality content – and if you make it a regular practice at pumping out great content (with at least some basic on-page SEO, then you’ll definitely end up ranking higher more often than not. And for sure you’ll always rank higher in the mind’s of your visitors (in which you can reach in ways other than SEO such as social media sites, forums, etc.). “Go big or go home” – well said.
Thanks a lot for this! It’s not easy to get recognized with new blogs, especially if you’re a blogger in a competitive niche. So every good advice (like this) is much appreciated!
Thank you for this post on improving SEO for more free traffic from Google. It’s an uphill battle trying to stay relevant in search engine results pages. But with the right direction and information from trusted “side hustle millionaire” sources such as yourself, anyone can stay on track with their content marketing, SEO, and [side hustle millionaire] goals.
Thanks for sharing this great advice. Targeting high volume keywords with really very well structured and interesting content is not something most SEO follows today. Because people tend to shy away from the competition to be in their comfort zones. I personally target hitting both low/medium/high search volume keywords just to bring certain amount of versatility and a bit randomness to my content development.
