You may remember Rosemarie Groner from episode 142 of the Side Hustle Show last year. She revealed how her blog Busy Budgeter was just a year old and receiving around 400,000 pageviews and making around $5k a month — primarily through Pinterest traffic.
It’s almost a year later now and I had to have her back to see how things were progressing. Rosemarie is now regularly making more than $20k a month, and while her pageviews are still at a similar number she has improved her ROI and diversified her traffic and income sources.
Rosemarie is still getting a ton of traffic from Pinterest and explains how she has moved with the changes on the platform to maintain her numbers. She also talks about how she has started focusing on SEO, has built different email lists to sell different products to, and why calculating the ROI on a project should be one of your first considerations.

Does anyone feel it’s daunting to make pinterest pictures for products. I can’t choose a stock photo, I have to use my product pictures… while pretty I don’t think they fit well on the long format that pinterest likes b/c I need to fill that space with something. I need to search pinterest for how to make better pinterest pictures. :) – Anyway, great podcast…thank you Nick.

This is iron clad proof anyone with a business mindset and willingness to create informative content for readers to enjoy and share on social networks can turn a side hustle into a full-time income. I’m so happy the internet is here and provides a meaningful way for people to turn a side hustle idea into a business because not everyone wants to start a real world business. Additionally, not everyone wants to go outside their home to supplement their existing income. So my view in blogging is it’s a beautiful way to create a stable and diversified stream of income and improve the overall quality of your life. :-)
It’s really a good choice to make money with blogs, but it all depends on whether we have business thinking to engage in business activities.
