With 250 million active users, Pinterest is a content discovery platform nearly every blogger and business owner should be spending some time on.

The Pinterest tactics shared on this podcast in late 2015 by Rosemarie Groner were extremely effective … for a while.

But I began to see declines in traffic, and today Pinterest brings in perhaps a quarter of the visitors it used to.

Still, I’m convinced I could be doing better on the platform to reach more people and help more people with my content.

Just like Google, a top-ranking pin can bring in consistent qualified traffic month after month after month.

But also like Google, there’s a certain science to the Pinterest algorithm.

To help me breathe new life into my account — and walk through how you can do the same even if you’ve never used Pinterest before, I invited Kate Ahl from SimplePinMedia.com to join me on the show.

She’s an expert on all things Pinterest marketing, and in this episode, she breaks down everything I’m doing wrong and what you and I should be doing instead to start reaching more people and driving more traffic.

Tune in to hear the right way to set up your profile, how to set up and optimize your pins and boards to increase your reach, and how to rank you content in Pinterest’s search results to drive more traffic to your site.

  1. Perfect timing Nick! I was just getting ready to start optimizing my site’s photos for Pinterest and was just starting to look for good tutorials on the subject. Then I saw your latest Podcast with Kate this morning and was able to listen on my way in to work. Thanks for having her on. Another awesome episode.

  2. Thanks Nick and Kate! This is perfect timing as I’m really trying to get my arms around this whole Pinterest thing. I’ve been blogging for about 6 months at http://www.zerodebtcoach.com and am ready to get some traffic flow to the site to build my email list (and hopefully guide Google Adwords revenue).

Nick, I devoured your last 3 podcasts with Rosemarie Groner and I’m so glad to get this updated Pinterest content from Kate. I’m at that place where I have “enough” (and growing) content and need to start driving traffic so I can monetize and grow my email list.

    Thanks guys!

  3. Again, thanks for the great content!

Question: What should you do if/when another Pinterest user has pinned your “opt-in freebie landing page” (with the free download document(s)), essentially allowing people to download your opt-in freebie without giving their email address?

Should I delete that pin (and can you?) or should I just let it ride and hope they just find my site useful and hope they opt-in anyway?

It seems like I should delete it because I’m potentially losing subscribers by that landing page being “out there”.

    Thanks so much,

    Brad

  5. Pinterest is not only a great source of ideas but also a great source of traffic. I just upgrade my account to business mode so I can see my traffic report. Great work Kate, awesome speak.

  6. Hi Nick,

Thanks for inviting Kate. I also stumbled to one of her podcasts. 2019 is the year of the video and a year of visual which Pinterest is upholding. I love the Tailwind application especially the Tailwind Tribes.

    Thanks for doing this both.

  7. Hi Nick,
Thanks for all the resources you put together.
I would like to tell you of my experience with the Tasty Pin plugin. I bought it today and installed it. But, it did not save a pin on my blog as advertised. Even worse, it wrecked my theme and other plugins. Asking for help on their chat and email was fruitless. No one is answering.
Anyone reading this, please save yourself the time, money and energy and don’t buy this plugin.
