The Sharing Economy is one of those “too-big-to-ignore” trends, and I think it’s a great opportunity to get your feet wet in side hustling.
We’ve talked about Uber and Airbnb before, but there are literally hundreds of different platforms where you can put your buy buttons.
These app-powered peer-to-peer transactions are unlocking an estimated $300 billion in economic activity by 2025. Want your piece of the pie?
We’re still in the early days of The Sharing Economy, which largely centers on turning your underutilized assets (your house, car, stuff, expertise, time, money, etc.) into dollars.
Today’s guest is a sharing economy buyer, seller, and expert. Glenn Carter is the author of the Secrets of The Sharing Economy series and founder of TheCasualCapitalist.com (inactive as of 2020), a site dedicated to sharing economy success.
Tune in to hear about several promising platforms and Glenn’s top tips for side hustlers getting started down this path.
UPDATE: Looking a massive list of sharing economy platforms? Look no further! I’ve compiled more than 150 of them for you here.
UPDATE: Glenn created a Udemy course, also called Secrets of the Sharing Economy, and has offered 20% off for Side Hustle Nation.

Thanks for sharing! I had never even heard of a few of these platforms before (Feastly? Brilliant idea). The Sharing Economy is huge! I think that the platforms that exist in this space are going to fundamentally change the way that work is conducted in a lot of areas in the future. We’re going to see a lot of people shifting into the entrepreneurial space thanks to these platforms.
Thanks Larry! Going to give Feastly a shot yourself?
I just came across this blog and it’s great. I like networking with other like-minded entrepreneurs as they get started.
It’s much easier for me to relate to somoene making a few hundred or thousand dollars a month than someone making tens of thousands.
Definintely going to subscribe to your email list.

Also, definitely going to check out Task Rabbit to get my virtual assistants filled up with any idle time between tasks!
Ooh I like that angle — underutilized assets / excess capacity!
I can verify that Rover and Dog Vacay are totally legit. They are great ways to get paid to hang out with dogs. I love it! Thanks for this amazing list.
